Brake discs

Afternoon all

Just been looking at brake discs and noticed a site supporter is selling Borg and Beck brakes but cant really find much/anything on these brakes. A lot of people rate Borg and Beck clutches though.

Has anyone fitted these Borg and Beck brakes and any good?

Guessing no one has used them then Laughing

Trying to work out if its worth trying them as its £80 front and £86 rear for a fitting kit or pagid which is like £120 rear and £103 front

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Indus Silver

I've had quite a number of things from Steve at AF over the last couple of years. Recently did the brakes on the the front of one of the FL2's. I toyed with these, but went with the Brembo.

I don't doubt these will be ok, but it just *feels* wrong compromising on such an important component!

If you send Steve an email or PM then he's great at replying.

Only took about an hour to do both front brakes (discs and pads). Everything you need in the kit EXCEPT brake disc cleaner.

Got my birthday pressy early today rear brakes ( Discs, pads, handbrake shoes )

Went for pagid in the end as they seem tryed and tested

One thing I did note is that the discs are solid and not vented like the picture on the box

I used Pagid - good make. The rear discs are solid not vented. Just a generic picture on the box. John

The Indy I use uses pagid. He replaced my front and rear with pagid. He told me to stay away from mintex brakes. He said pagid or twr were the best brakes to use in his opinion. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Its a cat toy that's unravelling Thumbs Up Will update when I get them fitted onto the truck, the place I got them from large well know car parts place ( not a site supporter ) didn't have the pad retaining clip things so hopefully the ones that are on the truck will clean up and be used again

Did you not take the bra back and say wheres the other bits! Laughing Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto

Pagid brakes

I replaced my rear discs, pads and handbrake shoes, using all Pagid parts. This was about March, and the discs still look brand new, when you look through the wheel. Must be very good quality coating on there, i thought it was just silver paint to make them look good for a while. They work well too. Pagid again, when the fronts need doing.

Must admit they were easy to fit ( my old man did it )

Hand brake now works as it should, brakes work good but they should bed in after abit more use.

Must say it looks alot better now that the dark rusty crud that was in there before, and its nice to have the silver colour Smile

Would like to do the fronts at some point to so it all matches Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto

I replaced my front and rears with Mintex. They were squeaking before I changed them but try as I might and despite numerous cleaning, chamfering and lubricating attempts, I cannot get rid of the squeeeeeak as I come to a slow speed stop. Sad

Copper slip grease applied liberally to the rear of the pad, or have you done that?

Many times. First with the original pads and again with the new ones. As the man with the steering whel stuck on his knob said to the doctor, "It's driving me nuts"! Only benefit is that I know when wifey has arrived home and its time to delete my browsing history. Wink Laughing
