I've got evoque alloys with my summer tyres on. Went to the local car cleaning place few weeks ago and whatever they cleaned the wheels with almost looks like it's a limescale type mark on them. Are the alloys painted , lacquered
Any suggestions to try cleaning them , please

probably neat detergent, they wont spend extra on wheel cleaner, not rinsed off correctly and its dried, warm water and elbow grease

The alloys are painted and then a clear coat lacquer on top, give them a polish and the dust washes off really easily.

I did try the steam jet wash at work but that didn't seem to do it

I would possibly said acid used and may have eaten your lacquer and the limescale ia what's left of it

Will clean them tomorrow and take pics. Would you feel anything if it's eaten the lacquere?

Does that mean I shouldn't use an acid cleaner on them ? I did ask to see their COSH book to wor out what they'd used but think I was asking in wrong language

I use wonder wheels which is an acid, never had a problem, I doubt its lacquer coming off unless it was deeply scratched and the solution has got underneath it?

They will be using neat TFR (Traffic Film remover) a powerful alkali, acid will shift it, it does sound like that is what has dried on, its like chemical bird , tough to shift

Yes, sounds like same thing, left a whitish cloudy stain. Really annoying.

Only put them on earlier in year from a new evoque, don't think they'd been hardly used. Def not scratching on them. The stains on all 4 of them too

I had a similar thing on my other car,ended up taking the wheels off and using atosol polish on a drill mop and it cam up a treat

With the heat in the rims, a covering of TFR, so it dries quickly, not easy to remove, hate it, the Indy I used to use would drench the TD5 Disco I had, took all the black out of the plastic trim in time.
Don't allow the Dealer to wash mine anymore.

Your alloys get painted more than washed

TVLR used something that turned my valve caps white at last service. Wheels were OK though. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

OK, so winters on and the evoques off.
Not sure if I've captured the marks but this is after a go with wonder wheels.....

they have obviously been exposed to either high alkaline or acidic wheel cleaner and not rinsed properly

wonder wheels is great on certain wheels and baked on dust but it is harsh on certain alloy finishes, it shows the same problem you have encountered - FL2 3.2 i6 - There is no Replacement for Displacement

If my wife ever sells my stuff for what I told her I paid for it, there will be some bargains out there!

Try Iron X. Brilliant stuff, followed by a wax.

Auto sol is good as well
