First Freelander 2

Hello all

I've just posted an introduction on the 'new here' thread.

Essentially I'm looking to purchase a Freelander 2 for my country pursuits and I've seen a few for sale which are local to me.

I'm looking at the HSE model 2011 and newer with up to 30000 miles on the clock, and I'm after some advise as to what I should be looking for when potentially purchasing?

Would it be worth getting one of the RAC or AA checks done?

Many thanks, really sorry if what I'm asking might seem a bit boring or stupid but this will be a major purchase for me.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

i was going to but the bloke I bought it off worked for LR and he had the garage do an independent health check instead - I was happy with that as he was a sound bloke and the car is a gem!

With that mileage and age in mind it may well be worthwhile looking at a LR dealer for a car, it will have it's health check and a dealer warranty, this itself is very good warranty.

We have a forum sponsor who has sourced many a good deal for members on here, may be worth a call, nothing to lose Thumbs Up

Give them a call, the GM, James is a top bloke, contact Spencer and mention the forum, http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic20977.html

We'd love to help! Drop Spencer an email at spencerlang@lookers.co.uk and mention the forum.

We've got a pretty good selection of Freelanders at the moment.

James Thumbs Up

2011 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Galway Green

I bought something similar last year (2011 XS with 21k on the clock) and opted for a Land Rover dealer for a bit of extra peace of mind (although at that point still had best part of a year of LR warranty so slightly different situation).

I was (and still am) pretty new to car ownership (only had one car before the FL2) so was perhaps more risk adverse that someone a bit more car savvy.

Am very happy with my purchase and FL2...no regrets buying from a LR dealer Very Happy FL2 2011 SD4 XS in Galway Green

I personally wouldn't buy another 11 or 12 reg until LR find a fix for the hesitation problems. 11 reg bought in the facelift version with the reduced emissions and lower tax. Numerous differences in the engine from previous. I was told last week by my local dealer that they have 3 customer cars with this issue and LandRover don't know how to fix them. Ours was fine for a few months, luckily it's under extended warranty so keeps going back.

Does it affect manual and autos?

Don't know if it affects autos, our is manual. We have had 08, 10 and 60 reg manuals and none had the problem. The affected engines are the ones without the "organ pipes" on the air inlet pipes and tax at £180/year instead of £220.
