I just checked out the Goodridge set that Rimmer Bros has, also not cheap at £135 + VAT + delivery, but for sure these guys know what they are doing, so i'd be confident to order them. In fact I just did Smile 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Yes, Cambo - I am sure the BFG hoses will be top quality. Also supplied by Demon Tweeks. Rimmer offers the better value though. Please report what improvement you get. Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

The brakes are getting a complete overhaul at the same time, new rotors, pads, and bigger calipers on the front, so it might be difficult to judge what difference the hoses will make on their own... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

I've put the Goodridge hoses on, but as I said the rotors, pads & front calipers have been changed at the same time so it's impossible to say what effect the hoses have had. But i'm happy.

airaldi, please post pictures. You need to host them externally, I use Dropbox myself. Put the pictures in your public folder and then you can post them here Dropbox Referral from Cambo 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

I have just replaced my flexy brake hoses with a set of braided items from HEL. They were £79.80 delivered which I think was good value. It was an easy job, just replaced one corner at a time then bleed. No problem with bleeding either, just used a bleed tube with NRV in it, end immersed in a jar of fluid. Pedal seems firmer, although I have only driven it a short distance since. One point to note: the HEL front pipes are not fitted with chafe blocks on the upper portion as per the original items. HEL do not think it is necessary apparently. I will check for chafe myself after a few more miles. There is a pic below showing my R/H front fitment. Sorry, the pipe is black sleeved so difficult to see. (Other colours are available)

Tools needed: 11 & 14mm OE spanners plus Mole wrench (to pull the locking plate at the body end!) to remove originals. 11 & 17mm OE spanners (plus Mole wrench!) to fit new items. 9 & 11mm spanners for the bleed screws F&R. Bleed tube & jar.

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

I had a 6 year/90k B service done at Stratstone Nottingham before Xmas.

I had read somewhere that flexi brake hoses were replaced on this service, yet on collection when I asked the service guy if they had been done he said that they werent part of the service although they were inspected and found to be in good condition (barring a bodged retaining clip) and so they didnt replace them.

He quoted around £700 to replace all the hoses which I immediately choked at, I would get them done at my trusted indy anyway if it was an additonal cost job.

There is a set on eBay £79.80 with free delivery. When the warmer weather comes I'll be replacing, my callipers, discs and flexi hoses.

I just use the dealer for the servicing stamp - I even supply the oil & filters. Plus warranty work. The rest I do myself. Cannot see the point of paying someone else's labour charge whilst I don't work! Embarassed 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Having driven the car for a few more miles now with the braided hoses, I am pleased with the result. Definitely a firmer pedal with better brake response Thumbs Up

klian - I see you to plan to replace the calipers. I am intrigued why, unless they seize or leak, they should be good for the life of the car - or are you planning an upgrade?

I obtained a full set of new genuine calipers, pads, shoes and discs for £200, the ones fitted are looking tired so decided to replace the whole set.

Just as an addition to this discussion we have a 3.6L Porsche 911 in the family. As you might imagine its power and on road capabilities are far in excess of the Freelander (and that includes high speed stopping ability) it has huge ventilated discs and 4 piston calipers on each wheel but no sign of braided hoses.

PS it's not very good off road except on a dry cricket pitch
