Cannot open drivers door from inside the car

I have just come back from my eldest sons house after looking at the problem he has got with being unable to open the drivers door from the inside.

All the electronic locking systems appear to function ok and the outside door handle works as it should. The inside door handle however has no resistance and does not appear to be connected to the latching mechanism.

I have done searches through the forum but cannot come up with anything that seems relevant so would be grateful for any help/ideas on what the problem may be and what would be required to solve the issue.

The vehicle in question is a 2007 Freelander SE.

Thanks in anticipation

Might be worth taking off the door card and seeing if something has come away.

This should help;

Sounds like the problem I had with one of my rear doors.

The cable had come free from the lever. In my case I just had to put it back in, and put the retaining cover back. Steve

It happened to me a few weeks ago took the door card off and found the cable had become unclipped so just a matter of lining up and re clipping very easy job

Thank you all for your responses, very helpful. I will remove the door card and hopefully it will just be a matter of re attaching a cable

Just took the door card off and thankfully it was as suggested the cable pulled away from the lever mechanism. There appears to be no damage so I have reconnected the cable and everything works fine.

Once again, thanks for the help.
