I thought I'd seen a post sometime ago about LR parts or non-OEM parts but cant find it, I must have imagined it? Anyway, if you were to buy replacement parts for your FL2 are non-OEM parts just as good as LR parts, are they better or worse? I think I need a window regulator, I've seen an non-OEM part that is half the price of the standard LR which is quite a saving. Has anyone had a bad experience with non-OEM parts??

I think the term you are looking for is "Non-OEM" or "pattern parts". 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

To answer the original post genuine (or OEM) parts are a good idea for safety critical areas, but consumables might be OK from non-OEM, you pays your money and takes your chance.

Have had a few problems with non-OEM parts on a Disco 2. I didn't realise the Indy I used was fitting pattern parts. Specifically, an oil cooler failed - just a distorted pipe but ended up costing me lots - and a front hub turned out to be an old design which LR had upgraded. I'd always use genuine parts for important things - maybe not a problem with trim etc, so long as they fit and match. Also bear in mind that we have a lot of common parts with Ford and Volvo, and these can be much cheaper from the respective suppliers. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
