which engine oil?

Taking fl2 in for our first service( its an 08 SE auto)
Its going to the garage we take the wife's car to (can't afford LR unfortunately)
Is this the correct oil?=Castrol Magnatec 5W30 A1
Is there anything else's to make a point of?(ask them to look at?)

Fully synthetic oil for diesel?

I have an 07 2.2TD4 diesel.

Is fully synthetic going to give a longer engine life and if so can anyone recommend one?
