Help... Headlight Protectors..

Hi All,
In the middle of fitting headlight protectors... bracket fitted to the side of the front grill - no problem- holes drilled in wing for other bracket and they seem to be held in by a captive fitting you fit a screw into. The "instructions" show what looks like a pop riveter and the captive fitting...
I have no idea how to mount the fitting in the wing!!
ANY help appreciated.... 2008 TD4 ripe for mods

Hi.

The tool that you need is a rivnut. Google it to find out more. I got my dealer to fix mine as I did not want to by the rivnut tool.

Wishing I'd done that... online to get rivnut tool now.... At least I will be able to attach my own side steps as well..

Buy the rivnut gun as I've been quoted two hours labour by my dealer at £110 an hour plus fat to fit mine

There is no need to buy the Rivnut tool.

Just drill a hole in a flat bit of scrap metal and pass the right size bolt through it and use the bolt to 'crush' the riv nut.

the metal acts as a spacer to stop the bolt binding up at the bottom of the thread. John
