How do you check the water content of brake fluid

There is mention on the forum of garages checking the absorbed water content in brake fluid and so decide on whether the fluid needs changing.
.
Does anybody know how to do it and what the parameters are for pass or fail?
.
Kind regards from Fred

To be honest Fred I have never seen the point of this check. Brake fluid is so cheap and easy to change that I do it more regularly than recommended and all is well. Also, I think a look at the colour of the fluid is a reasonable indicator of it's condition. Light and clear at all times - if not I change it!

I may of course have missed the point of your question, if so I apologise. John

The simplest method, like JST said... The color of the liquid.
Without water, light yellow, honey like.
With water, starts to turn brown.

Thanks guys, I was reading on the forum old posts on servicing and was just being inquisitive, I have to do my second service in the next couple of weeks so I intend to do a thorough bleed to flush the old out of the system.

I can't even think of a reason as to want to check this. LR recommend that the fluid is changed every 3 years. So they have obviously given lots of thought in to this.

So the simple answer, is change it every three years and you won't have a problem. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

45000 or three years.

When I was due a third service the LR Dealer informed me that LR had advised them to check the moisture content to check if it needed replacing, but after my last visit to the same dealer I would take it with a pinch of salt though.

Even though its in the service book. landrover will only change it if it tests positive to water, and then its an extra charge on the service so most people don't bother.
I'd shop around for an independant that will do it for a lot less.
Worth doing anyway in my book but only if you plan to keep the vehicle a long time.
