New two-wheeled toy

Hiya - pictures will follow. I've just taken delivery of my latest eBay bike - a 1983 Suzuki SB200 in true time-warp condition. It's unrestored, only 4 previous owners, less than 18,000 miles registered. 200cc two-stroke twin that's a real blast from the past - drum brakes, kickstart, 4-speed box! I'm a teenager again (if only...........)

Can't find much detail on it on the web. Has anyone got one or had one, any info out there?

Cheers, Ron. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Same engine & basic running gear, I think. But with drum brakes & a bit more 'commuter' inspired looks. Can't wait to see the pics. Welcome back to the 80's, RJC.

My 1984 Honda 125 custom is just about finished. Once the weather picks up a bit & stays dry for the day I can get it outside to take photo's. Then I can compare 'before' & 'after' (apart from an emptier wallet). Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Yes indeed. Four gears instead of 5, drum brakes instead of disc, kick start only. Who cares, it's a working piece of history for under a grand! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

I loved my X5! It was 1983 and it was only 2 years old and it was absolutely fantastic Thumbs Up The learner laws had just changed and all of a sudden all those L plated riders had to get shot of their 200's and 250's and you could pick them up for peanuts Very Happy They are worth a darn site more now....

I seem to remember that the SB200 had a single carb in place of the twin carb on the X5, along with spoke wheels and no rev counter.

SB200 and Joyride both going well thanks. I'm happy with the light weight of both but do suffer a lack of long-distance comfort 'cos they're not really big enough for my 6'2" arthritic old body..........

Great to take either out for an hour or two's bimble along the byways of Cornwall. I'm learning the long ways home from various local beaches, harbours and ice-cream stops!

Mind you, it's getting a bit chilly these days so they're not being exercised as often as I should like. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Now THAT's a proper-looking motorbike! Great bike, great picture.

Why do all modern bikes have to be so darned BIG? Little ones like that are where it's at. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Waaayyy back in 1980, the bike of my dreams was the, very closely related, Honda CB125T:

I was only 16 at the time...

I finally got to ride one in 1996. I was instructing at a training scheme in Newquay, when a learner turned up on a really nice one. When we'd finished, I asked (very nicely), if I could borrow it to take around the cones. Did it live up to my dreams? Actually, yes, it did. A great little bike, even though my regular bike at the time was a 900 Triumph triple. Still got that one Wink

My brother had a CB125T. I seem to recall that the rev counter red lined at 12000rpm Shocked
I briefly had one that I bought cheap off a friend. I'm on the lookout for another to restore soon. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
