United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Alaska White

I managed to find a means of submitting via a .cgi script a technical enquiry to the Alpine HQ in Japan and have sent something off.

If I receive a reply I will post it here and then you all may or may not be able to listen to your favourite music as if in a concert hall. The reply may be a few days in coming.

Enjoy what remains of "Flaming June".

I sure am! I went to have a play but no luck. I found AVC though and turned it off. I don't like the way the volume goes up and down as the car speed changes.

Thumbs Up

Hi,

Not sure if alpine will be able to help, the system may well be branded alpine, but the speakers are made by phillips and the head unit is a fomoco unit made by matsushta\panasonic. ALPS made the control panel for the head unit.

Take a look in my gallery for the pics of the head unit and labels

Cheers

Paul;

This is very interesting. I just checked out the stereo in my US spec LR2 to see if I could replicate it here.

We use presumably the same Alpine head units as you guys in the UK, however modified a bit. In the U.S. there is no DAB (we have something called HD Radio which is not included in the LR2) and we have a subscription-based digital satellite radio service (which IS included, and I do subscribe to it).

Nevertheless, I couldn't replicate the menu.

From some Google searching, it appears Concert Hall seems to be a native Dolby Pro Logic setting of some sort. CAR HISTORY

Thanks, BigAlf, but my unit is bog standard for this model of GS and it does not have DAB radio.

Just for the record, I tried out different sound sources this morning - FM radio, CD, and finally some .mp3 tracks from my Sansa .mp3 player via the jack socket. I checked the Music button for each source in turn, but could only get the standard fare of Bass, Treble etc, and no Concert Hall anywhere.

I explored the EON option and the AF option and tried the Music button for those too, but without success.

Maybe someone out there knows where the Concert Hall sound effect came from, but they don't want to say so in case we all get champagne for beer money. In the meantime, I am patiently awaiting a response from ALPS of Japan.

Digital on the FM button relates to digital tuning and not DAB radio. Ways to tell if you have DAB are:

a. cycle the FM button and it will show FM1, FM2, DAB1, DAB2 etc if DAB fitted, if no DAB then it will only show FM options.
b. When you switch the radio on it will come up with a DAB logo as part of the start up sequence.
