Suggestions for purchasing off road tyres for 2010TD4SE

Hi All

After purchasing my Freelander 2, I took it to Moreton Island and realises that the factory fitted 255/55/R19 tyres on the factory fitted 19" rims are not ideal for off-road deep sand driving.

I am looking at getting a second set of off-road tyres. While I don't doubt the off-road capability of the car (in comparison with the likes of Hiluxs, Patrols, Landrucruisers etc), I do believe that good tyres make a big difference.

Has anyone faced a similar situation. I am based in Brisbane and I am looking for suggestions for purchasing a second set of wheels. I don't mind buying second-hand wheels. Any information would be much appreciated.

Highly recommend the Pierelli Scorpian ATR's. Very nice, just expensive.

My rear Scorpion ATR's are still going at nearly 100k. I think that is good value. Fronts were replaced at about 70k. Wheels haven't been aligned!

2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Lago Grey

For off-road use I'd drop to 17" wheels - that extra sidewall helps off road.

In the UK a number of us are using the General Grabber AT, which is a good all-rounder (not a mud-plugger) at a very reasonable price. I don't know if it's available in Australia though.
