mystery bracket

I have just finished replacing the wing edge seals on my 09 GS and at the same time I removed all the wheel arch liners to clean out any accumulated mud.

One thing has got me puzzled and thats a bracket on the front subframe as shown in the photo. There's also part of the liner shaped to go around whatever is intended to fix to it.

I wonder if anyone can enlighten me?

Roland Question

Quite possibly a mounting point for the jig which carries the body around Halewwod during assembly. The body is supported on a mechanism that circumnavigates the plant while various parts are attached, only once the drivetrain is attached can it stand on its own two feet.

It's the subframe mout for a ride height sensor for auto levelling headlamps (HID) there will also be two holes in your A arm for the corresponding bracket

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Indus Silver

Hi Roland. I assume there was no pun intended with your wife's HID's being 'brilliant'. I only picked mine up on Saturday and haven't been out in the dark yet. I'd better find some excuse tonight!
I only wanted the 8-way adjusting seats but they were only available on the Lux so didn't have a great deal of choice. Not totally convinced about the auto levelling yet as I liked to keep my dipped beam down fairly low. Also, I believe auto levelling is now part of the MOT check for cars over 3years old. 2007 SE Manual : Gone and missed but 2013 HSE Lux is better!
Series IIa : Gone but hopefully still alive.
