Just took FL2 in for a service and got told, just like last year, that it needed a aircon regas.

Why did they say it needed a regas? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Well mine was coming up to four years last time I had it done and I thought, actually it wouldn't be a bad idea.

sounds like they are trying to con you for more money, makes you think what else they are conning from you ?

If the aircon needs regassing every year the system has a leak which should be rectified.

I seem to recall the advice being that one should use the aircon regularly (even in winter eg) to 'maintain' it & avoid the need for a re-gas... is that an urban myth? ...

Supposed to stop the seals drying out and thus leaking, or something. I just leave mine on auto all the time - I think it uses the aircon even in winter as a dehumidifier to stop the windows misting up (in conjunction with the heater, obviously). Might be wrong though. |

That's right, demisting and keeping it that way is slow and hard work especially if you get in the car with wet clothes, but put the aircon on and watch it go |
