Im looking to retro fit parking sensors on my TD4 s. Im a little confused about the scope involved after reading the retrofitting sensors under modifications section. I understand there should be a box in the back? where is this box? is there a chance I don't have one? How many sensors will I require and are they easy to drill / fit? Any help appreciated.

ok its a generic kit but works the same.

I had mine retro dealer fitted when I bought mine new. Got my hat nailed on but I thought that they would do a good job ??

On collection the sensors permanently beeped !!!!! Reason being was that they we pointing downwards. I pointed this out to the dealer and they said they worked perfectly before I collected the car, yeh right !!!. Back in again to have another system fitted with wedges to make the sensors more vertical. Collected car and guess what, still pointing down and false beeping. Now going back again this week. The agony goes on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When retro fitting parking sensors make sure that you have the right sensors for the job c/w the right angled wedges to fetch them to vertical.

I fitted a set of Quanan sensors to a previous Jag I owned. Absolutely reliable with no false 'beeps', even when wet etc (unlike OE FL2's).

£20 for a set of 4 sensors with a digital display, inc delivery is pretty good value.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them again on a car that didn't have them as standard equipment. Just my experience though. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Wont I have to remove the bumper to fit generic sensors?

Ill check the instructions tomorrow. I had a main dealer fit mine at a negotiated charge of £100 and they enabelled them. They look and work exactly like factory fit, beeps over the radio.

Yes, your quite right, it's a bumper off job, which itself is very straightforward and uncomplicated. Looking at the instructions, for the PDC, its a simple enough job. All the work is done in the boot of the vehicle. The majority of the mucking about is in making sure the holes you drill for the bumper are correct. I'd offer to do it for you, but your miles away. Alternatively get a dealership to fit the kit for £100, they can then enable it for you.

Reversed into my garage tonight at a slightly odd angle - both front and rears were giving an alternate long beep between them...sounded like a Met Police Rover SD1 from the 80's with its old fashioned siren on  Foraging near Gaydon....

Hello, is is possible to disconnect front PDF from system, last time about year ago one sensor broked and hole system went off because of it, it was huge bill to pay for finland lr dealers to fix it, if i remember correctly it cost around 200-300euros huh!.
after this winter again it seems like there is something wrong whit pdc system because it indicates whit beep and pdf flashes, now im wondering if it possible to connect of the front pdf because its useles and when driving many stones may hit to sensors.

Quite simple, pull the appropriate fuse in the boot. Alternatively get a new rear only PDC ECU. Funnily enough I have a new spare I could sell.
