185mm was a tight fit but I still had space for double sided tape to sick the sides in place.
Give the 190mm tablet a try, just maybe it will fit. Thumbs Up

Hehe, I never got to try my original Samsung Galaxy Tab (P1000) before it became 'lost'. I was looking to replace it with a second hand one, but it is somewhat more expensive than the Freelander if it won't fit.

I will have to give it more thought before biting the bullet. (The reason I need the P1000 is that the mobile carrier here uses a fairly unique frequency (850Mhz) which none of the USB 3G dongles support).

Cheers for your feedback! Thumbs Up 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

I'm in progress to install a 7 inch tablet to my 07 SE. According my mesurements the maximum width is 188mm.
I plan to use also Freelander PD20. Another possibility is PIPO U1pro which has the connectors on the long edge and thus does not need extra work with them. A Chinese site www.pandawill.com has wide range of choise.

It's not the easiest of installs, but definitely worth it! Thumbs Up

The PIPO U1pro looks like a decent tablet as well.

It looks nice, but it doesn't have av-in so you won't be able to have eyes in the back.
Do you know the screen dimensions?

It looks like most 7 inch Andrioid screens are very nice fit to the opening at the facia. The screen is approx one millimeter oversized but no information is missed. It looks good as there are no screen edge visible. The exact screen size is seldom mentioned in the specification

I've had no signal issues thus far. Only noticed that it takes a bit longer to find satellites if it's very overcast.

I have done my tablet installation and it has been running fine for a while.
The GPS seems to work fairly well. The fix takes some time if I have left for drive before the unit gets the fix.
There has been only once a situation that the fix has been lost while tracking.
In long run there seems to be some inaccuracy in tracking. Navigator shows me driving offroad next to the road.
This might be poor GPS implementation or problem with the navigator (Sygic)

I've just got my Freelander 2, 3 days ago, very happy with it but without a Sat Nav driving is a real pain. I've read the stuff on here and can see you need to get connectors on the long edges, and the PD20 looks good, however the PD10 seems to be better http://www.focalprice.com/CE0310B/Freeland...rrency=GBP as you can see the dimensions are 190mm x 123mm, anyone tried fitting something this size yet? It's got 2 sim card slots, wifi, 3G, memory card, camera, video and a kitchen sink. If there's anything glaringly wrong with it I'll avoid but it looks good, any ideas on size?

Here's a question to consider and one that has put me off going down this root....

What's the boot time? To give you an idea the built in sat navigation is 10 to 15 secs while a latest nexus 7 is just under 50 seconds....

The width 190mm is too big. In my installation with Freelander PD10 Olympic the size is 185x122 and it was OK but very close to the limit. In my opinion the 188mm is absolute maximum. Also the height was close to limit. Screen fit was very good.

I had to route the connections out with wires as there was no space left at the side.

The wake up is triggered from power supply line.

I have the same dilemma. After surfing the net for quite some time, the Freelander PD's seem to be the best 7" GPS tablets.

The PD10 with GPS is slighty better than the PD20, the screen resolution is the one that makes the difference imho.
What I am not sure about it's the width of the PD10. Some say that it's 191mm, others 196.5mm. Shocked

Had anyone tried the PD10?

Laukke, could you please upload some photos with the instalation of your tablet?

Hello, I saw your post and bought a tablet but my tablet also has side connectors, how did you wired the power button and audio ports?

Thanks.

Hello Revoltz

I opened up the back of my tablet and soldered wires directly to the pins for the power switch, audio port and power port.

Here are a picture of my tablet installation. I routed the connections first to a piece of printed strip board.
The board is attached to the back of tablet with a double sided adhesive tape. From the strip there is a short wires and connectors.
For audio output the two ground terminals at the tablet pcb should be shorted for android to "detect" the audio connection.
Additionally there is need to connect two pins at USB connector for UTG function (for connecting OBD2 adapter).

The two yellow wires are for on/off switch which I routed to the dasboard under the screen.
I glued a small tactile switch behind the original rubber trim below the screen.
I can switch the screen on and off just pressing on middle of the trim.
There are no ugly buttons at my dash.
