Bought a fob off ebay. Allegedly new and unprogrammed. I know, I know, everyone says you shouldn't but it seems like a bargain. £45 + £4 delivery. Arrived today nicely packaged and the fob was in a sealed plastic bag so I'm hopeful. Before buying, I checked sellers feedback and contacted a previous purchaser who confirmed that the one he bought was able to be programmed and works fine.

Note you are from Essex, I have used Essex 4x4 near Billericay / Wickford and rate them highly. Pretty sure they can programme keys. So, in all, a brand new remote fob delivered and programed has cost me £85. Well pleased, especially as I negotiated £200 off the price of the car because of the faulty remote.

Thanks for the update, I actually bought a new rechargeable battery ready to cut my spare key and have a go at replacing but after not working for six months it now appears to work perfectly! Typical. Will probably buy one from your e-bay friend once they re-list and go along to Essex 4x4 for programming! GS With HSE Alloys, Sat-Nav, Full leather interior, Roof-Bars, Dog Guard
