England 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Baltic Blue
Sat Nav POI File Transfer

I have just ordered MY13 Freelander SD4 HSE, anyone out there that knows the best way (if any) to get my large collection of personal POI's from the old SatNav onto the new Meridian?

Would be really good if the new Meridian could upload my Tom Tom OVL file!

Many Thanks
John

Not sure that I need an answer now. Just downloaded the new manual and it seems that the Meridian can accept GPX files. Got myself a utility to convert the OVL into GPX and will attempt the upload when the car arrives.

I will post the results...

New motor arrived, VERY nice. My GPX file uploaded to the Meridian Satnav, and the POI's are there.

However, the MY POI option displays a list that is sorted in distance from the present location! Not really helpful if you are looking for a particular POI that might be some distance away - the only route is a one by one step through, since there does not seem to be a search function for these POI's.

Any body know of a way to search MY POI? Automatic HSE SD4 - Baltic Blue

Does anyone know how to get in touch with "Meridian". I would like to ask them some technical questions about the Audio/Satnav/Phone unit in the Freelander 2. Automatic HSE SD4 - Baltic Blue

Thanks Taztastic, would you believe it, Meridian will not talk to me I have to ask Land Rover?

Well, done that asked the dealer, and they recognise that only My POI's within a given radius are displayed, My POI's cannot be searched. So I have to page through the list which is sorted in distance to travel (and cannot be changed) to find the POI I want. But if it is outside the preset radius, it does not appear in the list!

A little deflated, what seemed very good is now much less. What do you think are the chances that LR will change the software or provide some way to alter the defaults?

@wilfsoft

Could you possibly send me a sample GPX file that works for you.

I am trying to load some GPX files onto my unit, and keep getting a error saying the GPX file is invalid or corrupted...

Many thanks,
Jacques

I am familiar with that, my files gave the same error message, but they still work.

I have a feeling that it is the size of file that I am using, there are a lot of sites in the area I cover. 400 major sites and 100's of smaller ones.

If I can work out how to send you a file then I will, I will trim to a manageable size.

I cannot upload the file - probably because I am doing it wrong, however an extract below... If you copy and paste this into a text file with the extension GPX, then it should work.

Please bear in mind that the Land Rover satnav will only select POI's within a predefined distance from your current location, and there is no way to chnage this!!!

You can see the repeating pattern of the required "Waypoints", so you should be able to add your own if you know the LAT and LON. Do not forget the final end entry.

Hope this helps. Automatic HSE SD4 - Baltic Blue
