DAB Alarm

Strange one this morning

At 9:50am driving along listening to RAdio 1 on the DAB radio it switched channels and said Alarm in the top left and BBC R2 under neither and a chap waffled about traffic for 3 seconds before it switched back to Radio 1

Never seen that before, is there some emergency broadcast setup or something? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Under DAB Settings it is possible to enable FM traffic alerts. If you enable this function even when using DAB the radio will broadcast any traffic alert messages transmitted by a station on FM. Indication on the screen will be 2 icons showing TP and TA
I was listening to Radio 2 on DAB and then got a traffic update from BBC Radio Northampton.

When i say he waffled on about Traffic, the ALARM was on the screen for 3 sec's and i heard the work "car" and "snow", it sounded more like general chat than a traffic report

I am 100% sure i didn't have TA on and it said ALARM

trying it this afternoon with TA on the display says TRAFFIC, so it can be that

I think i recall there is a ALARM service with in the UK, along the lines of annoucing National Emergencys, i wonder if this was been tested Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Indeed there is an emergency broadcast service in the UK. Have heard it a few times in the limehouse link tunnel, last time the message was "warning, obstruction in the road" Works pretty well irrespective of whether you are listening to radio, cd, dab or whatever. Must be FM as my freelander doesn't have dab I am not saying it is your fault, I am simply saying that I am blaming you.
