A quick search throws up lots of threads and symptoms that can cause the problem. Certainly bad fuel or a clogged filter will cause problems but so can many other things.

Have you checked to see if you have any fault codes logged? I have similar issue, car still under warranty. Land Rover Assist coming out tomorrow & will read codes. Probably the AA. My fuel filter was changed last year. The fault can appear on start up too & when driving for a while. Landy has now gone. |

The filter could always be clogged if it's been doing it's job. Depends what crap and water has been in the diesel you've been using. 2002 Honda VFR800

Changed filter this afternoon, test drove up a couple hills accelerated hard, now running well, no fault messages. As for priming filter i turned up a brass connector fitted it to a pipe and bottle , connected it to the filter and it filled up no problem, then connected all pipes turned on ignition once, then started after, no problem at all.Very happy bunny lol. |

Quite a few filter problems coming up this week. Remember that if the filter has water in it then yes it will freeze and clog. |

Had my filter changed today, after symptoms similar to previous posters. The guy who did it used the 'fill everything up with a funnel' method and it fired straight up. Cost? £34.00 (Unipart) filter £30 labour.

Sounds like a full service might well be in order. If the seller claimed to have serviced it, I would be sending him a bill. |

ive had the car from new , looking back the filter has never been changed. I contacted an independant dealer and explained the fault , his reply was we can look at the fault codes but doubt we can fix it . being an engineer i cant let it go so researched problem and fixed it , and as for buying special tools what absolute rubbish |
