Ford Motor Company Logistics?

This last few days have seen me travelling out to Thurrock/Tilbury on a daily basis...can't help but notice that every Transporter that I pass on the M25 loaded with the (now obligatory) LHD Evoque's on them, the cab doors on the lorrys are all Ford branded, and Ford Motor Company Brentwood written on the doors.

Did Ford retain the logistics contract when Tata took over does anyone know? Question

Just curious.... Foraging near Gaydon....

Ford have probaly rented them out as they're not selling as many cars as LR so they have spare capacity Laughing

I believe DHL have the parts logistics contract. Have seen JLR branded artic trailers tugged by DHL tractor units. May not be the case with vehicles transport. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

DHL not only supply the Transport of some parts to JLR, even the Fork Truck Drivers at Halewood are supplied by DHL.

There are only a handful of Transporter Companies remaining, Fords do not have their own Transporters they will be a Transport Company with Ford Stickers on, Walon used to do it but they were bought out a year ago by Autologic in June last year they were bought by Stobarts. ECM are the biggest solely owned Transporter Company chances are it was one of there vehicles with Ford livery, they do Ford, along with Land Rover, BMW Nissan and a few others.

The short answer is that Tata kept Ford doing logistics inorder to ensure a supply chain. ECM do have part of the export contract along with STVA and Acumen. Autologic who are now owned by Stobarts and have not been Walon for many years have the contract for the domestic market from Gaydon but this is for Solihull product not Halewood.

In case you wonder I drive a Car Transporter and have done for over 20 years. 2009 FL2 GS

Oh yeah I forgot about Carlson, they are now part owned by CAT Group (Renault) and have part of the Export from Solihull. Some of these contracts change hands every three years and JLR seem to like to have a few different hauliers.
Heres my mates truck as I don't do alot of JLR anymore.

They are our biggest customer, I've always worked for a small family firm in Kings Lynn. Its the kind of job where most of the mainstream drivers know each other, hence having mates from other firms even though i've never worked there. 2009 FL2 GS
