-15C this morning in Norwich!

Got up early to take the missus to work and it was -15 at 8.00. Been here 20 years and I think this is the coldest I remember. Got the woodburner going now so should keep the place warm.
Car churned a bit and made some strange clanking noises but fired up OK and took us safely through the icy wasteland.
Heated front screen is a godsend - why don't all cars have them?

+1 on the heated front screen, my golf doesn't have it and didn't even have the option which is a major irritation!

When starting in the extreme cold, make sure everything is off before cranking, heated seats, screen etc. takes a bit less out the battery, and don't touch the throttle from clap cold for about 15 secs and it'll all be good...just ignore the initial roughness Thumbs Up Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Had it hit -19 a couple of years ago here. My MY2010 fired up no problem. Don't have the luxury of a heated front screen though, so it was back out for some scraping. They do warm up remarkably quickly though, usually heat coming through by the time you are ready to set off.

A chilly -8 degrees on the coast side of Hull this morning, no trouble starting but only after the difficulty I had trying to open the door.
Before the cold snap I sprayed 'silicon' onto a cloth and wiped down all the seals as well, unless some ice bridged the metalwork.
The PTC heater in the air duct is great, helps de-frost in no time for us poor people not having a front screen heater. Thumbs Up

A balmy +22 in mid Wales... something to do with the woodburner, I suspect... ...

Only -4 showing on the dash this morning and although we don't have heated front screen by the time I'd finished scraping the side windows, most of the ice had melted on the front screen from turning on the defrost program (button above heated rear window one).

No sign of snow down here. It looks cold out there but have not poked my nose outside the door to-day. Wind up the central heating and relax...ah the joys of retirement! Very Happy John

My routine on these cold mornings is to fire up the heated screens and seat then get out to scrape the side windows or if it's very bad deploy Autoglym de-icer (great stuff) and by the time that's done, the ice has gone off the windscreen and the seat is warming up nicely as well as the PTC heater.

Great features Thumbs Up 60 plate SD4 XS, Stornoway Grey, Arm rest pack

One neighbour had his car running for 15 minutes before he set off.

The other was out there 5 minutes before me.

Me in the freelander, heated screen on, quick blast with the Heatshot and I'm away in about a minute. I waved to the neighbour still warming his up.
