Samsung Galaxy Ace

Looking for some help on why the display on the head unit only shows the phone number and not the persons name when I have my Samsung Galaxy Ace connected to my FL2. I previously had a Sony Ericsson and that showed the persons name no problem. Does anyone know if there is a compatability issue or am I doing something wrong with a setting on the phone or head unit. Question

I can confirm that my Galaxy Ace displays the name of the caller.
I don't think there's anyting "wrong" you can do.

Bluetooth can be little fickle, though: My Nokia 6700 has a habit of dropping the bluetooth connection when calls are terminated. Can't determine whether there's a pattern to it, but I have a feeling it's if the remote caller terminates the call.
The Nokia displays the name of the caller also.

dont you have to sync the phonebook for that to work as opposed to just using the car as a bluetooth headset?

(I dont have a HSE, so I have no idea what I am talking about, just going on experience from the passat..)

Lucky Duck, I will try again. when I get my FL2 back from garage getting 150,000 mile service, as my phone was saving all numbers to sim card so don't know if thats got anything to do with it, so I will delete the phonebook and try again.

I deleted phonebook and phone and started from scratch again but still getting the same crap on head unit display. Can I ask what year your FL2 is, as mine is a 2007, and wondered if you maybe have an updated version. Also wondered where I can find a list that has all compatible phones for my year of FL2

Thanks for that, I have checked that out and my phone is showing as compatible so don't know why it only shows phone numbers on head unit and not contact name Question

If your phone and firmware match on the comparability list then head on to your local LR dealer if your in warranty

I did, when I first got a FL2, they were feeding line after line over the same reason, then I tried my mums basic Nokia which should have worked, a free software update and my phone and my mums showed network, name and signal strength

npinks,

Doesn't seem to be a compatability issue but I have just realised I am not being able to delete the phonebook from the head unit as I cannot select yes when prompted from the menu. Car is well out of warranty as I bought it second hand in April this year.

Turn phone off, if it is paired with the car I dont think it will let you delete it.

taztastic,

I switched off the bluetooth on my phone but if I do that I cannot even get any phone options to try and do anything that way.

Hmm Question
If I go to my car now with the phone off, it is in the list of phones and can be deleted, strange.
I wonder if a battery disconnect reset will do he trick, anyone here know?

taztastic,

I even tried using the missus HTC Desire phone and still getting same. I am thinking of digging out my old Sony Ericsson that was working ok just to see if that will work like it used to.

Sorry for the delay mine's a MY12 (1st Reg'd July 2011)

The compatibility link shows the Galaxy Ace as being compatibly but going in to the Quick Start Guide it says Pairing is NOT SUPPORTED (!) and then continues to give instructions on how to Pair Confused

Anyway, maybe you have an incopatibility issue with the Android software. The Guide talks of various 2.2.1 FROYO versions. I'm running 2.3.3 GINGmERBREAD. Maybe thats the difference.

My phone is running version 2.3.6 and build number GINGERBREAD.XXLE3 so don't think the phone is the problem but my FL is getting a software update tomorrow so I will wait and see if that makes any difference.
