Nails in coffin?? is JLR in its death throes or riding jubilantly with its highest ever production and profits? Sorry but really don't know how you came to the conclusion that this is JLR about to die????? Probably a British thing to bash your successes ![]() |

This is a good thing for JLR. There will be no bad points about it.

Silly me - of course it is good news for the uk - they have no intention of building them abroad and closing the uk plants even though they can build them cheaper abroad |

If they were going to close down the UK plants, why are they building a brand new one in the West Midlands over the next 2/3 years? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice. |

Chinese workforce is starting to demand better conditions, better wages. More and more companies are looking to move out of China, niche markets predominantly.

A really good factory worker wage in China is 300 pounds a month for a 6 day week. You can't make them in England and sell them to China, it costs too much. There are a billion people there so worth the exercise. |

I think the days of dirt cheap labour in China are just about over. If sales of JLR products has increased 20 times, it shows how the economy there is booming. And dirt cheap labour would start to hold that boom back. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

This is good news for JLR as they are now called, but potentially bad news for Halewood and UK car manufacturing. Currently Halewood is the sole source for Freelander with the majority of production going for export and a high percentage of this to China. The factory is producing 24/7 at the moment to keep up with orders for Freelander & Evoke, great for the work force & the UK economy. But as JLR have stated Freelander will be the first product off the Shanghai production lines in 2014 & a new JLR production facility in Puna India also underway, makes you think long term surely this can only mean lower production output for Halewood to start with then other JLR facilities in the future. For JLR it makes them more viable as a company to be able to produce & sell in areas where high import duties hurt volume sales.
