Im sure most of you are aware but i thought i'd post it just in case. The only sand driving allowed at Stockton is on the beach and the dunes are closed. I was there last weekend, purchasd the 3 day pass.
The beach sand was very deep and churned and narrow between the surf and front beach dunes at both ends.I attempted to travel at mid tide from Lavis lane but it was very hard going - the freelander still handled well. I was by myself so i decided after 500 mts to turn around (which was risky in such deep narrow sand ) and then later entered at the Anna Bay end at low tide. Again i found the same sand conditions.
The beach area was also narrow, deep and really churned. The last time i was there was 5 years ago with my 60 series landcruiser and the beach area was 3 times wider. I've been to Fraser Island 4 times and i would rate Stockton at the moment as hard !
But the freelander was impressive ! I've owned it for 4 months (i still have the landcruiser) and it felt unstopable !!
The rangers are everywhere at stockton at the moment to enforce no sanddune driving too.

2008 HSE-- laught more folks !

The dunes are open south of Lavis Lane in the RV area to down past the wreck. We've got a club driver training course happening next month so we checked to make sure.
