TD4 AUTO MPG

Land Rover states that my TD4 Auto should do 41 mpg on the extra urban cycle but I find it impossible to get more than 33 mpg.I have tried driving at 40 mph maximum on country A roads, not using kickdown, and generally driving very steadily but it makes no difference.Any other TD4 Auto owners like to comment? Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

MPG

I've managed 40+mpg on an empty dual carriageway in what I would describe as being totally artificial conditions. My auto returned 29.5mpg on a 900 mile return trip from Wales to the Scottish Highlands with a trailer weighing almost 2 tonnes. On A roads providing I don't go much over 55 mph I am getting about 37.5 mpg. I wont quote the urban figure, but it is good to walk as well! More importantly it has a 5* crash test rating, a strong safety cage, seven airbags, and loads of street cred.

Not got an auto but first day I had my manual GS I got it to 40 mpg going up the M42 in the speed restricted area (50mph).

Only managed to get it to 37.5mpg though since that!

I've done 19,000 miles now and the fuel comsumption seems to be pretty stable. I get 33 mpg normally and around 37 mpg on motorways

No!

The simple answer Commando is No! I've monitored the mpg in my TD4 Auto over nearly 8000 miles now, and the average mpg is around 31-32 mpg, exactly as LR claim Razz

The extra urban figure is probably gleaned from lab testing ... I've certainly got nowhere near 40 mpg except for a few brief moments when the fuel computer is stabilsing after a refuelling stop.

As others have said, the overall satisfaction from owning and driving an FL2, more than makes up for its slightly disappointing mpg (on the TD4 Auto). I do wonder how BMW get such great mpg figures and low emissions on their diesel auto engines, which seem to be in a different league to most car manufacturers. Shame they sold LR on perhaps :
