hi, any one come across this problem before? my near side door handle seems to be just slightly loose at the front were it is atachted to the door, dont realy want the dealer to go taking door trim panals off just yet ,

I might have spares from when I swapped mine

Surely mart56 if you have a MY2012 FL2 it will be under LR's warranty - so don't go poking around yourself - get your LR Dealer to fix it good n proper

yes of coarse your right, just not keen on having door trim removed

This might be a silly answer, but isn't that the side with the emergency key entry?
Certainly is on my 2008 FL2. Perhaps it's not been put back on properly, when opened using that method.

Don't need to remove the trim to replace door handles so I don't think you need to worry, of course you can just keep it wobbly if your that way inclined

its the outside nearside front, just not been tightend up to door panel so a trip to the dealers is called for, still if thats the only thingthat goes wrong i,ll be laughing

If you are indeed only referring to the "emergency" manual key lock element of the outside door handle i.e. the right hand piece then:

1: If you place your fingers above and below this piece only (and not the handle itself) you will be able to move this element up and down by approximately 1 or 2mm max. This is normal - anything more and it is most certainly too loose.

2: You can try in the first instance to reduce any excessive movement yourself if you are willing to, and, you do not need to remove the interior door trim. It will take you less than 5 minutes to do so. As follows:

i) Firstly open the door.
ii) Then look sideways on to the open door (not directly onto the interior door trim card) and you will see inline with the emergency key cover a small round black plastic 5mm dia hole plug.
iii) Remove plug being careful not to scratch your FL2?s body paint.
iv) Shine a torch inside and you'll see a small TORX fixing screw (the size escapes me at the moment) - tighten that screw gently clockwise! On no account take that Torx screw completely out Or you'll get yourself into a big problem. Just tighten it up if it is loose.

3) If that simple procedure does not fix/reduce your movement down to the 1mm or thereabouts - then it's off you go to your LR Dealer.

many thanks athelstan but its the other end of the handle thats loose, its only got slight movement, 1 to 2mm but probly enough to mark the paintwork over time, i dont supose theres a quick fix for that end

I think you will find that that amount of movement is normal, there is a hinge on that end of the handle. All four of mine move that amount[/quote

sadly its not the hinge thats moving but the whole handle

There should be no movement - horizontally or vertically - on any other the door handles.

So get yourself off to the LR Dealer - pronto - there's a good chap, and, I'll now have a cup of tea.
