Side Bars - Ground Clearance

Hi all,

Can anyone with the chrome or black side bars tell me whether the gound clearance is reduced when side bars are fitted. If so, by how much?

Thanks

The tubes on mine don't effect the clearance as such

Yes they are slightly lower than a car without, but do offer more protection to the sill of the car and I believe they are just lower than the fuel tank.

The side steps, I have been told hinder the off roading capability due to them been lower and protruding out further

When I get chance i take some measurements and let you know. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I had side bars on a Disco and caught them on an off-road course. They would protect your cills but the brackets were a bit flimsy. They pushed back into position afterwards. Discos without them did not catch cills and one guy with steps wrecked them. Big Cry

I thought they reduced ground clearence so I did not bother with them when I bought my FL2.

just remembered to measure the clearance

The floor to bar is 8"
the floor to lower sill is 10.5"

there does appear to be other stuff below the car that are already lower than the bottom of the sills, but the bars are still slightly lower than them Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
