Hi there - new to this so pls go easy!

Looking to buy a used HSE from these guys. Price is great (I think!) but this will be our first LR so just a bit concerned and want to know I can trust I'm buying a good car!

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I work all over the north but my home is in Doncaster and we have two modern LRs - following terrible experiences with Stratstone Doncaster, I will never use them again. They are untrustworthy, incompetent and struggle to tell the truth - I don't say this lightly - I have proof and experience. I raised the issues with LR customer service and they could not defend their behaviour - only offer apologies and compensation.

I did not buy my cars from Stratstone Doncaster so my experience is with service and warranty work.

All I would say is, if the price and car is right then go ahead and buy but make absolutely sure they keep their side of the deal, fully check the car before you accept it and do not accept ANY promises because they will almost certainly not keep them. Oh and don't ever let them service or do warranty work on it.

My opinion, the problem is with the attitude and competence of the people at the garage not the chain - I have found Stratstone Bury to be very good.

PS. I seem to recall a member on here "Annie" bought their FL2 from Stratstone Doncaster and then subsequently experienced their customer "service" - she may be able to help more specifically with regard to buying from them.

The Bury branch were cr*p aswell as the car came from Bury to Donc  59 TD4e XS in galway green

I have bought from a few Stratstone Dealers because they usually do a good deal on sales but aftercare service has been terrible

No matter where in the country, if it has a S ne in front of it, buy if the price is right but for anything else then avoid like the plague.
I travel 100 miles return passing a S ne to get mine serviced elsewhere and any warranty work that needs doing.

I got myself banned from S ne Hull, for some reason they refused to speak to me after my outburst to nuke the place for poor customer service.
There may be good dealerships under that name but their behaviour put me off the whole network.
I now deal happily with Duckworths at Market Rasin, hopefully trouble free and not again until the next service January 2013.

Hull never return calls, York let me down with a FL1 issue after years of loyal custom and as for Pickering - I reserve judgement at the moment

I bought from Stratstone because they gave me a better part ex price than Duckworths and Guy Salmon plus their like for like Freelanders were £3k less than the competition. I just put up with them to save myself some dosh but i wont be going there for servicing. 59 TD4e XS in galway green

Hi there all and thanks for your advice.

Sorry for the delayed reply - eventually we took the plunge and went for it - to be fair pre-sale they were really good and so far we're delighted with the car. Car delivered down to London on time and as promised with very little hassle.

Post-sales seems to be a different story (as expected from posts - very hard to even get hold of etc.) but will be sticking with our local dealer for servicing so not a problem.

They delivered down for short test drive and inspection with us able to cancel if anything was not as per their description.

Had it for a couple of weeks and so far so good. Just missing mats (which I had kinda expected) but not too fussed about that tbh.
