Tyre weld

Sold my 17" wheels including spare so am temporarily driving around with a compressor and large can of tyre weld (also have four 18" fitted now - just in case you are concerned that I may have inadvertently lowered the whole thing!). Anyone had any experience of using the tyre weld/compressor arrangement please? Cheers DT

didn't your HSE come with 18" wheel in the first place Question

I thought the HSE's all came with the 12 spoke 18" wheels

Though I could be wrong Question

In the meantime, couldn't you get a spare steel wheel and increase to a larger tyre on the rim to make it 18", Its what Vauxhall did to one of my old cars, when it didn't have a alloy spare.

Do all the wheel not have the same circumference? If so there are sometimes one wheel or two wheel sets on ebay cheap that would do as a spare.

As I understand it ,bigger wheels have lower profile tyres to keep the same circumference so a 16" spare will match and 18" set as a get you home measure, cant be any worse than using a space saver.

my experience of tyre weld hasn't been good. It's fine for the odd nail but sods law decrees that, as with my mums smart car which has this arrangement, every puncture involved severe tyre damage (ripped sidewall etc) where nothing other than a spare would do.
After the 3rd trip on the back of a recovery truck she now carries a spare wheel.

As CG says, the overall circumference is the same so any fl2 wheel should be fine. 07 Freelander 2 TD4SE Tambora Flame, side steps, privacy glass, mud flaps, boot liner and a tow bar. Ok it's the Wifes but she lets me drive it occasionally - if I've been good!

Also I don't beleive LR Asistance covers you if you are not carrying a spare wheel, but that could be to do with trailers Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Tis only the "S" model that comes with the compressor and a tin of tyreweld.

All other models come with a spare wheel, either steel or matching alloy. ______________________
