A while ago I posted a question re: a suitable vent mount for an iPhone - I don't like windscreen mounted suction holders because of the security aspect (advertising the fact that there may be a nickable electronic gadget in the car) and also the appearance.

The only suggestion forthcoming was for a magnetic device but this involved sticking a metal plate to the back of your phone - not something I fancied doing to a £500 device! The problem with the FL2 vents is that the fins are vertical whereas the majority of car vents have horizontal fins.

However I have found a solution for less than £12.00.

I have used a Universal Car Air Vent Holder from UK Firesales on FleBay, some sticky back velcro pads, a 1.5m USB synch/charging cable and a Griffin PowerJolt Flush mount twin USB cigar lighter adapter from The GadgetShop - again on FleBay.

The result is a very stable mount in an ideal position.

I have the TomTom App on my iPhone and find it much more flexible and accurate than the built in Sat Nav on my '07 SE plus the fact that the TomTom App is regularly update with new maps and additions.
