I have now joined thenipad fellowship, curious to know why sometimes videos on bbc news site work and sometimes they don't! Any ideas???

iPad (3rd gen) is spectacular too

Some videos need flash player which is not supported by the iPad, as it uses too much memory! BBC post videos in several formats and are slowly moving away from using flash player because of the problems. 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

Apple products DO NOT support Flash Player.

SO the rest of the world are slowly moving away from FLASH but that upsets ADOBE  2002 Honda VFR800

If I watch a video now it will work, but give it an hour or two it won't as flash is not supported

If not then you should know that when a video is stored on a computer it is done using a 'video format' with a codec. So a Flash Video (FLV) is different to and AVI, MPG or MP4 video file format.

As technology changes and fashions and preferences vary from format to format some technologies become compatible or not over time.

If the BBC used Flash Video formats Apple products will not play them but if BBC use other video formats then Apple products WILL play them. 2002 Honda VFR800

download the BBC News Ipad App, then everything plays. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.
