Here is mine with AT2īs 255*55*18. And Volvo alloys.

Not much noisy at all. Great tires!

what wheels are those from volvo? Are they meant to fit the freelander 2/ LR2?

Yes, the Volvo rims fits on the Freelander.

Here is a link to a Swedish Volvo forum where the "R" alloys are discussed with some pics.

With these wide tires, the rims has to have a wide offset, luckily these are at least about one inch wider on each side!

What is the off set that you have for these wheels and did u install the tpms on this wheels from your original wheels? Did u have to use spacers? LR2 HSE

Grabbers AT 2 Tires

Been thinking of going with the AT2 for my next set of tires on my LR2. Can I have someone confirm that the 255/55-18 size will work on our vehicles. Spacers needed? Or is it a straight replacement.

Thanks,

Carlos

55 profile on 18 rims rim will make your speedo run too fast, ideally you need 60 series.

I have AT2's on my Trooper, and they have been terrific for Fields and Snow.

We have put General Grabber UHP's on the FR2 - again. Not a grumble from me. Been great all round, road based tyres.

I was able to confirm from other forum members that the General Grabber AT2 in the 255/60-18 size will fit the LR2 (one member mentioned that at extreme angles of off road front axle articulation and steering the tire will rub a little but not in normal everyday use). That tire is "taller" than the original 235/60-18 tire size by about 1 inch and wider by 1.2 inches but the 255/60 will still clear the space between the sidewall and the rear shock absorber tube.

The 255/55-18 AT2 tire is a bit wider than the 255/60-18 according to the manufacturer spec sheet but maintains the overall diameter of the original spec tires and that is the reason for me asking if somebody has tried it in the 255/55-18 size. If they were to rub the rear shock tube it could be easily solved with rear 3mm spacers. I would just like to know if spacers are needed.

To the one concerned about the speedometer difference. If you kept the width of the tire the same and went to 55 from 60 aspect ration your concern would be valid. That is not the case here. The AT2 tire in the 255/55-18 aspect ratio is almost identical in diameter to the 235/60-18 (29.04 vs 29.1 inches) about 1mm.

See that site link below for a useful tire size calculator.

Did you have to use spigot rings for these? My understanding were that Volvo Hubs were larger than the freelanders? Also what rim width and offset are they? I think they look fantastic!!

This looks great! i have been thinking of fitting 16 inch wheels against my 17inch in order to be able to have a higher side wall. This way one can deflate them more when driving in sandy conditions as i do a fair bit of dune driving. I have also been thinking of going to 245/70r17. Will probably investagate the 16 inch more when i need to replace my current rubber. I am running on goodyear wranglers atsa which is a good allrounder and not noisy at all on the highway.

Ps that underbody protection looks insane!!!!!!!!! We struggle to get any accesories in S.A. thus i had a metal bumper made.

With regards to the suspention lift mentioned earlier, i have also had a litf done. they have fitted 30mm spacers to both front and rear which made a huge difference. The alignment had to be modified slightly but the clearence is very uch worth the bother.

I Have been running 275\45\20 on my FL2 now for 2 summers, but now I want to go the other way........I know it has been talked about many times here, but can I run 16" on my HSE TD4 2007?
I was thinking about the Toyo Open Country in 245\75\16. http://www.europdekk.no/display.aspx?menuid=0&prodid=6710 FL2, TD4 HSE

I am currently running on the standard 235/65/17 on goodyear wrangler atsa allterrain tyres. I do a fair bit of sand driving and thus also wanted to fit 16 ich mags in order to deflate tyres more. I have tried freelander 1 16's but the wheel pcd is not the same. I think that a volvo 16 inch might fit but have not done the excersize- due to the expense i am thinking to rather go to 245/75/17 tyres than changing rims too. Goodyear makes a a/t tyre for the Jeep Wrangler in this size which should lift your clearence quite a bit. In your case you will have to get another rim altogether thus you might as well try a 16inch. When i tried the freelander 1 16inch rims it looks that the rim will fit over the caliper thus i am sure that if you can get a rim with the right pcd it should fit. Have you run you 275's on spacers in order to clear?
