Side mirrors - change of upper cap

A question to the experienced forum:
I habe bought from "connectstores UK" the painted upper caps for the side mirrors in my car colour.
A copy of the fitting instruction has been attached - the side caps have to be glued on. But they do not say with what glue. Cann anyone please help me? I do not want the caps to fly away at the first instance if I use the wrong glue. Did anyone experience higher wind noise after gluing of the outside mirror caps?

This has been discussed over on RRS

Though i don't think the wind noise issue was raised (and they was talking chrome caps)

I have the body coloured mirror caps not noticed extra wind noise and our local dealer put mine on for me ,don't know what glue they used but they were held in place for 24 hours after glueing with tape aswell.

I have done my mirrors. They are fixed withTerostat 8596. I bought it from Land Rover and the Part Number is STC 50551. This is as recommended in the fitting instructions that come with the mirror caps. They do need to be taped in place until the mastic sets.

Have the mirror caps and proper glue, has any body used caravan extension mirrors after fitting mirror caps?
especially the screw down type, will it crack the new mirror caps?

Whether or not the painted upper mirror caps are practical or not may everybody decide on his own.
Fact is, they look exceptionally GOOD and it is amazing what such a small "change" does to increase the general appearance of our Freely 2.

Hi RW,
if you visit "www.connectstores.com" you can look at the car colour painted upper mirror caps.
The price they ask is Pound Sterling 66,74 plus shipping. Fitting the mirror caps is quite easy: wipe the surface of the upper mirror with alcohol to get rid of any wax or silicone, and press the black glue from the cartouche in excactly the way as described
in the attached "how to do" guidline. Than fix the mirror caps with strong tape for 24 hours as described and then you can enjoy your fresh looking mirrors. The auto-folding function of the outside mirrors is not affected, and the mirror caps do NOT produce any more wind noise than the plain mirrors.

Good luck to you, and let us have your report, if done.
