A Hello from Strathearn Engineering

First of all, thanks to Martin for allowing us to become a Site Sponsor

At Strathearn Engineering you’ll find state-of-the-art Land Rover expertise, but without main dealer prices, with labour rates from only £38 / hour. Located in the heart of Scotland, we are approx 10 miles South of Perth, and only 20 miles North of Stirling

With over 90 combined years experience, our mechanics are Land Rover specialists with a passion for the Land Rover marque and for customer service. We maintain, repair and sell pre owned Land Rovers, and we also provide a UK-wide Land Rover parts supply service.

As an independent garage that has been successfully trading for almost 20 years, you can be sure that our servicing and repairs meet and exceed stringent Land Rover warranty standards. You can also be sure that we always work to budget: we can also offer fixed rates for servicing for some models, so there will be no surprises. Any necessary additional work is discussed, explained and costed in advance.

You decide the service deal that’s right for you; it’s why we offer the option of a fixed-price service or a price based on the actual time and materials used. Whichever you choose , you can be sure that our charges overall are substantially lower than those of Land Rover dealers: our lower costs mean a lower price to you.

We will meet your needs in full and at all times. We can help, whether you want us to MOT your Discovery, update your service book and re-set the service reminder. We offer the option of vehicle collection and/or return.

Strathearn Engineering also has the additional benefit of AUTOLOGIC diagnostic equipment, this state of the art diagnostic tool leads the market when it comes to diagnostics meaning that we can get straight to the problem.
As well as diagnostics, we can also carry out ECU software updates, as well as enabling and disabling of various options, such as 4x4 info screen, auto-release handbrake, 3 flash indicators etc

AUTOLOGIC also gives us the ability to carry out performance remaps for 2.2 TD4 models.
Typical performance gains are as follows:

TDV6:
160bhp - 185bhp
315lbft - 335lbft

For more info and power graphs, please visit Autologic's website: http://www.autologic-diagnos.com/media/upl..._EN05w.pdf

We never forget that you are the customer, and we never take anything for granted. All work is undertaken by dedicated and skilled mechanics who are happy to explain the work they propose to carry out on your behalf, and to explain the work they have done.

Please feel free to call, E-mail or PM us to discuss your requirements, and we look forward to dealing with many of you in the future

Also, be sure to follow us on Facebook for our latest deals and special offers!

Thanks for the warm welcomes Smile

Dave, we look forward to seeing you. We do have a courtesy car available, but it is booked up well in advance. If you do need it, please allow a few weeks notice Smile

There would be a diagnostic charge for enabling the 4x4 info, however, we could offer a discount and switch it on if the car is ever in for a service etc Thumbs Up

Hi there, yes we can be seen from the A9. We are literally just off the motorway, at the first turning for Aberuthven and Auchterarder.

And if that doesnt help, there is a huge LAND ROVER SPECIALIST sign on the side of the building Laughing

Hi Strathearn Engineering
We have a MY2010 FL2.
The other week I took it to our local official Swiss LR Service Centre to have the Front Park Distance Sensors enabled after fitting a new MY2011 Facelift Front Bumper that had the sensors embedded. Note: FL2 originally supplied from factory with only rear PDC fitted. Note: new FPDC centre console switch already installed to facilitate this enhancement.

After 4 days in their workshop they admitted defeat saying that all sensors front and rear were okay, the wiring to the fronts was fine, as was the PDC ECU and its associate wiring to all units, and, the new centre console PDC switch was fine - signals were present at all electrical devices in the system.

They just could not manage to do the computer diagnostics to programme the re-map the CCF to accept the FPDC sensors.

So my enquiry is simply this:
a) do you have the experience to do this re-map to enable the front PDC sensors to operate i.e have you done this already?
b) if so, and based on your experience how much would you charge?

Please PM me with your comments - I am very interested as your location is not far from my friend's house on the shores of Loch Tay and so next time we come over to visit her we could pop in and you could do the job. I don't want a repeat of another 4 day VOR time out with a bunch of diagnostic muppets. Skilled no nonsense experience hands are what I'm looking for.

Hi, in repsonse to your question

No, it is not something we have done before. Next time we have a F/L 2 in, we will check and see if there is an option to code it in the CCF, and whether the car will accept the changes.

Alternatively, if you are over here anyway, we can plug in your car, and see if it will accept it. Obviously, if we cant program it, there would be no charge. I suspect we will have a Freelander 2 in before then anyway

Thanks SE for the swift and honest frank reply - your "no programme - no charge" augers well for a long term future client/supplier relationship. You are right - I think you'll have an FL2 in before we roll off the ferry in Newcastle for the run to Loch Tay Very Happy

I do appreciate your response and look forward to an update. What I can say at this stage is that I have heard from 2 different sources that the re-map is possible in experienced hands. Unfortunately of those two resources one is 2,160kms east of our location, and of the other, their current whereabouts are not clear and communication in the past has not been easy to maintain. So all bodes well for a visit to Strathearn Engineering. I do (or rather her Ladyship as it's her FL2) has another "comfort" project in mind but I'll keep for when we have nailed the FPDc sensors. Cheers.

Hi Iain, we have fitted many towbars to Freelander 2's, and there are a few options available

There is one available with a standard length towball, available at £180 + VAT
The same towbar, but with a swan neck, which is £160 + VAT
Or there is a Quick Release type available, at £225 + VAT

There is also the options of twin 7-pin sockets, or 13-pin, both of which cost £175 + VAT

Labour is approx 3 hours (@£38 p/h = £114 + VAT) to fit towbar and electrics, and to enable via the diagnostic system.

Let us know if we can help out anymore Smile
