Can LR or the gear box manufacture offer a remap of the change points, as I would welcome a change up to a higher gear at lower RPM when in full auto.

From my point of view, in order for LR to do a remap there must be a mass request, which there isn't. However I guess you can achieve the same result by driving in sports mode. Have you tried this? If this doen't work, then command shift will give you the option of changing whenever you feel like it!

The Haldex clutch in our Freely 2 is of the latest technology (version 3) and normally splits the torque with 5% to the rear axle and 95% to the front axle. So the Freely 2 under normal driving conditions is a front wheel drive.
But if driving conditions change, the Haldex will within split seconds divert the power between front and rear axle as required. This functions very well and very fast and is presently the most reliable system on the market.

Hi. I have tried the command mode and it helps the MPG but would stil preferr a lower change up point in full auto.

Can any one explain why when a patch or upgrade is made by the agent some people are getting poorer MPG. This must mean some remapping is being done to the EMC?

The way I explane it is that it takes some time for the adaptive gear box to get used to the way you drive.

Manchester - Perth - Inverness - Manchester - 820 miles - 41.1 mpg

Manchester - Aberdeen - Glasgow - Manchester - 770 miles - 38.5 mpg

Manchester - Prestwick - London - Manchester - 909 miles - 37.0 mpg

Covering distances like this it is very easy to collect mpg data; Believe me I DO NOT drive like Mother Terresa,

Bowserman ...... are those mpgs all with a TD4 Auto? .... if so they are amazing!

Mine's currently showing a recent average of 28.4mpg! However, that is after several very short trips in the cold. Life is not a dress rehearsal!

My mpg has settled down now, 35 miles to work, and the same back, each day and my mpg is 36.5 GS TD4 All Black

Errr. Dave W ... good mpg, however this forum string is supposed to be for mpg of TD4 Autos!! I created it because it was previously so confusing getting average mpgs posted for a mixture of manuals and autos. Seems like it still is!  Life is not a dress rehearsal!

NJ - thought my consumption was improving, but just done around 450 miles incl trip to Lake District, and back to W Yorks, plus numerous M-way trips, (one at hi speed for 26 miles), and it's just under 32mpg. Car now done 9900 miles, give or take, with Castrol Edge 0-40 lube. Reckon that I could get >33mpg, but then where's the fun?[/b]

Yes Chrisaviss, I've done just over 6k miles now, and my real average is very similar to yours. On a good trip I've had it up to around 34.5mpg, or sometimes even better if I cheat and reset the computer after the engine's warmed up and / or I've got on to better roads. Like you I think it's really about 32 mpg for a TD4 auto, exactly as LR claim. I also agree that it's pointless getting obsessed about mpg and removing much of the fun from driving the very peppy FL2.

Either way it's still way better than my old Disco 2!  Life is not a dress rehearsal!

Just to confuse issues even more I get 37.4 mpg from the TD4 manual !!!!!! GS TD4 All Black

So far I'm getting 27-28 from my TD4 Auto, only 1,500 miles so far, but mostly on my 30mile dual carrigeway trips to/from work average speed is about 40mph. As advised by the stealer I'm kept under 2,500RPM.

Will it improve, that's the question?

Yes probably Freebo. I think you'll get better mpg on longer trips, and when the weather is a tad warmer. If not, then it would seem to be reasonable to ask your dealer to find out why!

If you haven't already tried it, you may find you get better mpg when you try command-shift and even sports mode auto.  Life is not a dress rehearsal!
