I used a Garmin 1440 from Halfords, 12 volt supplied from passenger side fusebox F5, wires up behind dash and through a hole made in the cubby hole . Comes on with ignition and goes off when fob removed.

You're much better off without the factory supplied satnav - it's expensive crap.

Get a Tomtom or Garmin or ... and then you can add POIs, update it at minimal cost, use it in other vehicles etc ...

There are plenty of threads on here about fitting them so they don't have trailing wires, if you need to do that. (eg the previous post to this). Brian

Just started using the navfree app on my iPhone, been using a Tom Tom for years and it's as good.
For nothing you really can't fault it.  Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

The Garmin 1490T is a standard fit from Land Rover Australia in all 2011 models, excluding the HSE, which comes with the factory fit navigation. There are no gaps in the installation since they fit a plastic mask over the Garmin surround. I took a similar approach when fitting the 1490 in my 2009, getting a local plastics shop to cut the mask. There's a picture in my gallery. It's been used for just over a year now and has generally been very good.
