NEW MOT RULES START JAN 2012

There are changes and new additional rules being implimented for MOT test starting January 2012. Some of the new features are mandatory tests on items such as airbags, lighting and warning lights.

Think I will need to put some extra work in on the 65 Commer!

Visible wiring that is insecure, inadequately supported or likely to cause a short will also result in a failure as will wires bared by damaged insulation.

The car will fail if a speedometer is not fitted, is incomplete, inoperative, has a dial glass broken/missing or cannot be illuminated.

It must be possible to secure the driver's seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism in two or three different positions

i have herd that the mot test may go to 4yrs for the first one insted of three as it is now Question i wish that the people who do the taxi mot do mine they will pass every time after seeing the state of the taxis round here Thumbs Up rainy-city

The taxi's around here are closer to the ground than anything else I have ever ridden in. Not sure how they would pass - one in three has at least one bulb out and definitely worn shockers.

Given the round town miles & 24/7 operators they should be tested more frequently. IMHO There's always a way forward!

must be steve wonder that does the mot;s for our taxi most of the drivers are of taliban origin Rolling with laughter and the cars are sheds every other one has duff lights and the police do sweet fa Big Cry thats on private hire cars the hackney owners are very differant clean and roadworthy Thumbs Up rainy-city
