United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

I live in Derby and went around all the local dealers (within 60 miles) before buying through Hunters in Derby. The quality of their used FL2's was loads better than the other dealers. If you are prepared to wait till they find the model and colour you want I would definitely buy through them. They have several other dealerships within the Hunters group including Kings Lynn. They offered to bring any car within the group to Derby but obviously you have to commit to buy before they will do so. I agree with the earlier post about running costs. I allowed a £2k slush fund to cover two year running costs. I would not buy one outside of the dealer network unless you can budget for at least this amount (I had rear brake problems within the first few months which they sorted under warranty-would of cost me the best part of a £1k if I had to fund myself).

I had an Audi before the FL2. The interior in the FL2 has taken a little getting used to after the quality of the Audi-particularly the numerous ratttles which have developed!! The FL2 is, however, a beautiful car to drive and soooo relaxing. I haven't regretted buying it and still get as much enjoyment from driving it as the day I went on the test drive. My labrador also loves it!! On short local runs I get about 400 miles from a tank (£90 of diesel).

If you are on a budget go for the FL2 S. Terrain response is handy to have but not critical due to the gearing and the price difference between an S and a GS is fairly substancial. Hope this helps.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Biscay Blue

I bought my 2010 HSE from Hunters at Kings Lynn having gone there to look at a slightly older SE - saw the HSE and fell in love with it. I have to say that Hunters at Kings Lynn and Derby have been excellent - I found a small split in the drivers seat three weeks or so after getting the car. I reported this to KL and asked if I could get it sorted at Derby (I live in Notts). KL immediately sent my email to Derby and even before I rang them the warranty claim was being processed. Within one working day the claim had been processed, approved by LR and the parts ordered. When the car went in for the work I also mentioned a slackness in the handbrake. Derby sorted this out as well and kept me fully informed throughout the day as to the progress on the car.

This service is far better than I ever received from another well known LR dealer.

If you decide to buy I would just say that the old saying 'Buyer Beware' should be taken notice of. Always ask about the service history (look at the service record) and check on previous keepers. LR lease out a lot of cars - when the V5C arrived for mine I discovered it had been registered to ERAC UK Ltd which turned out to be Enterprise Rent a Car! Having said that the car seems to have been well looked after. ERAC have ignored my requests for details as to what use the car had been put whilst with them (i.e. was is a rental vehicle) but Hunters are trying to establish this for me.

Hope you find the FL2 you want - you will definitely enjoy the ownership experience! As the others said ask for a 24hr demo, I was lucky and had a new hse for three days, again as already been said you don't by a landrover to save money , also as to buy a landrover on there own finace was cheaper for us to by a freelander than a ford kuga on fords finace and again sounds like it will fit right into your lifestyle, we have gone from a new mini cooper s to our now three month old fl2 and love it ,

I also dealt through 'Lookers Park Royal', they also gave me a great deal, I also had a nice day trip out, but as Mr Pinks broke the best china set I had to make do with plastic cups, but I also had a full tank of fuel for the way home. Thumbs Up
