Not a huge improvement for me but ......
When driving along an unlit 'A' or 'B' road in the rain with oncoming headlights making it hard to distinguish your nearside of the road, then even a small improvement that illuminates that area better is enough for me to be worthwhile.

£30 and worth every penny for me

When you turn them on the start with a flash, go blue and after 20 secs, or so, become a very bright white, another double check you have them, will be the lack of a height adjuster on the switch console.

many thanks taztastic all the info I have re the winter pack describes the lights as xenon. I've had the car now for 6 weeks, done loads of night driving on country roads and love the lights

Automotive HID lamps are commonly called "xenon headlamps", though they are actually metal halide lamps that contain xenon gas. The xenon gas allows the lamps to produce minimally adequate light immediately upon powerup, and accelerates the lamps' run-up time. If argon were used instead, as is commonly done in street lights and other stationary metal halide lamp applications, it would take several minutes for the lamps to reach their full output. The light from HID headlamps exhibits a distinct bluish tint when compared with tungsten-filament headlamps.

HID headlamp burners produce between 2,800 and 3,500 lumens from between 35 and 38 watts of electrical power, while halogen filament headlamp bulbs produce between 700 and 2,100 lumens from between 40 and 72 watts at 12.8 V.

It was interesting to see a new Merc C Class today, they have gone from projector lamps back to a standard reflector for the SE and Elegance models with halogen lamps.
The optional HID have reflectors.
Maybe customer pressure and negative comments have made them revert, maybe LR should take heed

OK I am confused by all these posts. I am sure the other day I read a post somewhere on this forum that stated the FL2 handbook carried a mistake re which lightbulbs we need.

Basically I have bought a pair of the Halfords 90%+ extreme brilliance (2 for 1 offer) - they are H7s. But was I supposed to have 4 of these or is it two of these and then two H11 bulbs?

Help!! Mine is a 60 Plate (december) SD4 XS

Your car will be the same as mine:
Main beam = H7
Dipped beam = H11

Your manual will say both are H11 but you need to buy 2 x H7 and 2 x H11 if you want to do both main beam and dipped beam

2011 MY have 2x H7 main beam and 2x H11 for dip.
First edition of handbook WRONGLY says 4x H11 All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Cheers both I will see if Halfrauds have H11s as well in that range and if 2 for 1 offer is still on...
