Automatic Light Question

OK - second question for the night:

Is there any way to stop the automatic headlights turning off when the engine is stopped.

Same scenario, stopped outside school on country lane, waiting for kids. Turn engine off, lights go off.

I realise it's not hard to manually turn them back on - but, is it possible to change the auto settings so that they only go off when the key is removed or door opened or similar?

Pull the left hand stalk (the one you use to flash people with) and the lights stay on for about 30 seconds. Called see me home lights!

Or press the lights button on your keyfob, but that turns the rear and wing mirror lights (if you have them) on as well.

I can't think of a permanent way to keep them on without the engine running - probably an LR thing to stop anyone from flattening the battery.

If you want side lights on, then I guess you'll have to do some manual work and turn the light switch to the relevant setting!

i think that if you have the (drl) part of the lights system activatded by the dealer you can stop the engine and the h/lamps stay on if you leave the ingnition switched in the on posistion, Thumbs Up Thumbs Up drl = day time running lights, the dealer will have to set the lights for scandnavia setting rainy-city

I had the dealer switch on the DRLs on our MY11 TD4 HSE. They only come on when the engine is fired up. Andy

If you press the start/stop button for more than 2 seconds without pressing the clutch/brake (manual/auto?) then the auto lights come back on.

I know this works as my lights are always on auto and I forgot to close my window - so just held in the S/S button to activate the dashboard (etc...) and closed the window - but noticed that the lights had come back on.

Switched off the ignition and lights instantly went off Thumbs Up
