2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Noise from the rear brakes?!

My 07 suddenly started making a grinding noise in the back when I apply the brakes. Sounds like the pads or something.
The car has know 73 000km on the clock. Can it be the pads that are worn out? If so, doens't it have sensor warning?

I agree with CG. Most likely to be pads though. I changed my rear pads at 38,000 miles, as they were getting low. Depends on the type of driving you do, but for some reason these cars have an appetite for rear brakes!! Either change the pads, OR could just be rust on the discs, given the recent wet weather. Apply the brakes (and handbrake) a couple of times while moving. If it persists, you probably need new pads.

And the brake discs. No reason to even check- I changed rear pads on mine at 18k miles.

My personal advice - if you change the brake shoes FIT NEW expanders - mine were seized - like a new hand brake. 2002 Honda VFR800

Mine needed new Rear pads, shoes and disks etc on it's last service too, done 54k miles
