Well I finally took delivery on Friday afternoon. Didn't have an opportunity to use it meaningfully until yesterday when we covered about 250 miles.

Even though I have previously had an extended test drive as well as partaking of Land Rover Experience, it is not the same as the ownership experience when you can really get to grips with what the car is really like. I have to say I am deeply impressed and far more convinced I have made the right decision than I ever imagined.

I have not experienced such levels of comfort since my days of big Citroen ownership - DS and CX with oleo-pneumatic suspension. I drove across a field and it was like driving on tarmac! I have read some criticism of the seats. Whilst they are a bit small/narrow I find them perfectly acceptable. I love the light, direct steering because I have damaged collar bone ligaments which cause a lot of discomfort on long journeys with heavy steering.

Fuel consumption so far is a little over 36 mpg over 250+ miles. This would have been much better if the sat nav hadn't sent us through the middle of Swindon and about 50 roundabouts - I need to read the manual!

Overall, very pleased. I'm glad in the end we went for the Almond interior which IMO makes it feel lighter and airier and very classy. Slight reservations about the Buckingham Blue (after the problems with our order being delayed and deciding to source an alternative, the only cars available from dealer stock in the UK were Buckingham Blue or Galway Green). I favoured the green and wife preferred blue after seeing one in a showroom. I have seen comments from someone who bought a Buckingham Blue Land Rover (can't remember model) that it looked great in showroom under spotlights, but in normal daylight conditions it will usually looks black. I've certainly discovered the downside of dark cars - it was filthy after two days - and I am going to have to wash it more than my usual twice a year! However the contrast between dark exterior and light interior is very nice and I am sure it will grow on me after I've got over about 15 years of silver car ownership. BTW, having a BB car I notice others and it is surprising how many Discoverys and Range Rovers there are in this colour and I even saw three FL2's in it over the weekend.

glad you are enjoying it....................the steering is something that I have always been impressed with in my Landrovers.

never too heavy and never too light, just right, ( and a bit forgiving ) and you don't seem to get that feel in other vehicles.

The steering felt very light when I got mine, but coming from an XTrail a tank would have been easier. I got use to it quite quickly and it's the best yet.
