2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Zermatt Silver

New Brakes

Today i finaly got round to fitting my new brakes, fairly stright forward! Defo worth buying new expanders too, i choose the Britpart Drilled dics` too as they were not much more money than standard brakes!

Did you brake so HARD that you need drilled/grooved disk brakes?

Drilled/grooved discs allow any build up of gas/vapour between the pad and the disc to escape. That kind of thing occurs under severe duty conditions. For road use I doubt it would make any difference.
If you are regularly bringing your discs to red heat on a track, maybe.
Also, there are some issues with drilled discs - the drillings can cause cracking if the discs get used very hard from cold.

Very true, drilled and grooved discs are not really needed.

But......... They do look cool so why not. If I had thought about it when I did mine last year, I would have fitted drilled and grooved brakes instead of the OE set up I have now.
