Welcome to Freelander ownership. I have a Black FL2, looks nice when it's clean but is a nightmare to keep clean.
One drop of rain and it looks dirty. I have just had a week in Scotland with a Hire VW polo, silver in colour, even after aweek of Scotish weather it still looked good. I have found the Black to show every mark and seems to be soft, scratching very easily. I have taken to polishing it with Turtle Wax coloured polish which seems to do a good job. If I was buying new I would have gone for the silver or Beige, light colours hide the dirt beter.

i will have another chat with the dealer and mention your comments and see what he says.
I was hoping you were all going to tell me to have it done, then no more waxing for me for three years oh well maybe one day...

I had it done on a black car a few years ago, was a total waste of time, it was done for free , but believe me you will be polishing it in less than a year not three, if things like bird poo land on the car you supposed to treat the individual area and re seal plus if it's anything like what ford offer they charge you for a bodywork check up,

Mine is black and it's really hard to keep the swirls away. Npinks has given you some sound advice about getting a local detailer to polish it for you.
To wash black without adding swirls is really hard; never use a sponge or chamios, use two bkts and a grit guard and you also need a power wash.
There's loads of stuff on tinternet to help you, but i've some tips to help you. Be careful how much pressure you apply on the mitt while washing, the first sweep should be gentle then rinsed every time so as not to abrade the paint. Use plenty of water and never ever let anyone else wash your car. When you book in for a service, ask them specifically not to wash your car. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Well I am not sure of the name of the product, but I had mine done freebie on purchase and I must say it works just fine.

Mine is now over 18 months old and just a spray from the jetwash and it is left shiny and like new. water still beads on it and runs off even though it has not been washed for some weeks now and never polished, but I know a jet and a light wipe with a mit and it is back good as new.

I just love it, 10 mins & it's done, I say go for it.  MY2014 SD4 XS
