Seat belt chimes

First post so please be kind!

Has anyone managed to disable the seatbelt chimes? Have tried the plug the buckle in and out 12 times in a minute which worked on my D3, but to no avail!

Deactivating the chimes was the first thing I did when I collected the vehicle. Thanks to this forum. - Mike

Idiot

I must be an idiot cause I can't manage to do this.
I've tried all ways - but must be my age as i'm over 40. !!!!!!!!!!!

Have tried with the key in and :-

1. not pressing start button,
2. pressing start button but not starting engine,
3. starting engine,
4. getting out of car, locking it, unlocking it, getting back in and repeating 1-3 above.

I must be an idiot !!!!!!

Why would you want to disable the chime ? Just put the belt on ....

Having been a plod for a few years (though not now) I can't understand why anyone would want to not wear a belt. Whilst I was a plod I attended many RTA's. One of which was a car into a tree. Approaching the scene I recognised the car straight away, it was owned by a friend. He had been decapitated because he wasn't wearing his seat belt, his head was on the back seat !!! I know, I had to identify him. But that is an extreme example. Seatbelts do save lives, so wear them and the chime goes off.

Health Warning: Don't start me on mobile phones .....

I for one am going to disable the chimes....

Its OK when the car is on the road, wear a seatbelt...it makes sences....but MOST of my off-roading is done without a seatbelt.....

I'm normally going at walking-pace...on the flat, accross the fields, shooting...(That is, afterall, why I have a LandRover).

I'm often in/out of the car, picking up rabbits etc, and the last thing you want is the car beeping all the time (Do you have ANY idea how loud this is, in the middle of the countryside where's there's very little noise.?). The Rabits will be putting up signs soon "Thanks for the warning you are on your way!" Wink '57 FL2 GS

Avtur, old chap, how can I ever locate those annoying rattles Whistle Censored arround the cabin if I have the seat belt off (in order to be able to stretch and reach various cabin spots) while listening to 'ding dong". Plus I have to drive 150m from my main entrance to garage, no seat belt needed then. Anyway we have the seat-belt instument panel light to remind us to be 'good' boys and girls (that's for Shar - btw not too many females in our forum Big Cry ).
