Mine is 1 yr old manual diesel has 8000 miles on the clock and its returning 34 mpg around the houses. As for your low MPG the engine has to "bed in" and is still " tight". You will find that as a few thousand miles are on the clock you should get better fuel consumption.

my wife has a Toyota IQ...............65mph/3 years free servicing/5 years warranty/no road tax

in over 40 years of driving I've never seen a car so cheap to run !!

not a lot of room, really a 2+2, but great around town, will turn on a sixpence, and even good on the motorway.

Ain't it the truth.

32ish pottering about 36 on runs - SD4 2000 miles

That's about the same as mine which is an auto. There is quite a difference between the manual and auto MPG. I miss the lockup feature the 4 speed Borg Warner box had on my old discovery and R/ Rover. On a motorway there was virtually no difference in economy between the manual cars and autos as the 'fluid flywheel' locked to give no slip once you rerached 54 mph. Having said that, the 6 speed auto box on the FL2 is superb in every other way and I am willing to forgo the drop in economy for that.

I guess the trip meter is not too accurate so I have kept a log of fuel usage over the last 10k miles and it gives an average of 35.9 mpg. This includes a few hundred miles of what CG would call anti-social behaviour, with the mansion-on-wheels behind. Not quite as bad as I was expecting.

Jubilado Boy, 32mpg for a 2008 model is about what I averaged in mine, 2011 SD an improvement and its an auto. 39mpg
If keeping long term a remap (NOT a plug on box) will help mpg possibly by 5mpg, also adding 250 ml 2-stroke oil to diesel tank helps, Read threads on forum, very interesting and it works. All FL2's (3) Gone

07 manual. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

I forgot to zero my mpg average setting off to work today. About five miles in, I remembered and zero'd it.

A couple of miles later I glanced at the av mpg: 333.6!

It sadly continued to fall and ended up at 42.9 after 22 miles. Average speed 37.9 mph - included a dash at 70 for about 5 miles. Trevor
