Help with my dvd / cd drive

Hi all i am having problems on my laptop (known as craptop now) i have tried to listen to a music cd and its doing naff all ,have been on to start ,my computer and the dvd/cd drive is not there ...well it used to be so where could it have gone cause the next place to look for it will be in my back garden cause thats where the whole things gonna end up it's getting right on my Censored i have been trying to sort this most of the day so as you can imagine i have had enough now Big Cry

Have you tried the old faithfull reboot?

Also, most laptops have removable CD drives, try at removing it, and reinserting it.

You could also try and look in device manager (control panel,system,hardware,device manager - usually, or something like this), and see if there is anything with a cross or question mark, and see if a driver re-install might fix it.

If not, I'll try to come up with a couple more ideas

Hi rmb thanks for the info i did reboot but that did not help .... so i did what you suggested and took out the cd drive and it now works Thumbs Up thanks very much for your advice ,do you know why this could have happened??? anyway once again thanks Bow down

Not sure why this happens, I've had this happen on mine a couple of times, only normally when it's on the docking station, and I can't get to the screw to allow me to remove it.

It may well be a slightly loose connector, but unless it starts happening lots, or you're within warranty, then I wouldn't worry about it.
