a good driver checks what is going on around him/ her all the time,,, have no idea why you think that is dangerous,,,, it's more so to not be aware of your surroundings...

I found that only LR drivers would let me out at junctions etc when I had my RRS!! think people were jealous! Nearly everyone where I live have LR's so normally very polite. I drive quite assertively anyway and can't be doing with slow drivers so always barge my way in... It's easier to do with a LR!!
