Utter nonsense.

Neither "stealth" as it is fully broadcast, transparent and in the public domain. Please, before using the English language fully understand the meaning of its words.

And, as an "executive" one would expect such a loaded and biased anti socialist political statement from your corner. Shameful - stick to the facts and be opaque and accurate.

I am actually trying to impart some useful information. It has been widely reported as 'showroom tax' in the media, therefore so as not not confuse the mater, the title shall remain as such. Rolling Eyes

Just because something is recorded in the media it does not automatically make it right, accurate, transparent, objective or impartial. More often it is delivered as obfuscation, incorrect and subjective.

I respect your opinion; however it doesn't mean your opinion correct. There must be an OED forum somewhere?

npinks I do - and more than once in a while.

Perhaps the majority prefer silence, as is the case in most societies where the minority view constantly under duress. Democratically embrace the opposite point of view, inclusion does not mean acceptance, but it does mean that respective opinions are aired and evaluated by all.

Choose to agree or disagree. Do not however be offensive, and remain in the main objective. I have.

Our language keeps developing, and whilst you might not match a dictionary definition of stealth to taxes its a common way of describing the creep of increase in tax burden, either by introducing new ways to raise money or reducing benefit of previous tax breaks, eg "showroom tax" increased NI, 50% tax, not increasing inheritance tax, ratcheting fuel duty, ratcheting company car tax, not increasing personal allowance etc etc

It seems there is an increasing amount of pedantry in alot of posts!!!! Lago Grey Ebony HSE auto, 19" alloys, privacy glass

There is an increasing amount of pedantry in many posts - above you've just justified your own statement.

Indeed a language constantly evolves - as does the portfolio of taxation.

Showroom Tax is what this tax is called and known as here in the UK, and everyone knows what it means.

to call it something else or refer to it as something else is just stupid and pointless.

Iain

ps thanks James for the info
