Around the lanes here the biggest Tax should be on the piles of horse covering most of the road. Shouldn't be a £1 a mile but a £1 a pile

Just because something is recorded in the media it does not automatically make it right, accurate, transparent, objective or impartial. More often it is delivered as obfuscation, incorrect and subjective.

Our language keeps developing, and whilst you might not match a dictionary definition of stealth to taxes its a common way of describing the creep of increase in tax burden, either by introducing new ways to raise money or reducing benefit of previous tax breaks, eg "showroom tax" increased NI, 50% tax, not increasing inheritance tax, ratcheting fuel duty, ratcheting company car tax, not increasing personal allowance etc etc

Showroom Tax is what this tax is called and known as here in the UK, and everyone knows what it means.

to call it something else or refer to it as something else is just stupid and pointless.
